Shelter Loves...

Happy Saturday. Well Matty got back from the Olympics and had a great time! I mean how could you not, right? I've been tuning in the past few days. The athletic ability, endurance and commitment these competitors have is inspirational! It also makes me want to bump up my exercise routine a bit and push myself harder. I'm finding I need to work twice as hard to look and feel the same as I did five years ago. * if you are under 35 you don't need to worry about this yet! Read on to find out what is exciting me this week! 1. The Olympics. I was reading Michael Phelps' back story the other day. It is pretty remarkable how swimming and letting go of past hurt really saved his life and career. Some of his remarks mentioned never giving up on yourself in life. We all go through tough times at one point or another. I thought this quote summed up this concept well. "NEVER STOP LOOKING UP" ! The stars do come out and the sun will (does) shine again! 2. I'm all about ...

This and that.....

I am off to pick up Matty from the airport so I only have time for a quick post....He's sounding pretty spent after spending a week in Rio at the Olympics. I'm sure he was partying it up a bit!  As I've mentioned, I'm getting my home ready to be photographed this Fall!!!  I'll move onto the outside revamp next summer and possibly an addition after that. I desperately need a mudroom! I also have been searching high and low for a wallpaper for the small bathroom off of my bedroom. I needed to incorporate the colors in my home and in the existing bedroom with my paper choice. I often choose wallpapers first but I originally had just painted my bathroom. Here's my choice - Paradise Found by Anthropologie! (Even the name is cool - hehe)  My bedroom has pink, white, navy and blue in it! This paper should compliment it perfectly . I also have a green velvet bench that I am dying to use in the space!! I'll keep you posted on the status photos.  Anthro also opened a ...

Insta-peek

I just realized I have not shared my world with you via insta lately. It's been an action packed but fun filled summer..Here is what's going on lately!! Here is a little peek at my design studio. It's pretty much finished and I had it photographed. I'll be sharing all of the images soon, I was really happy with how the photographs turned out. The reason I rented the space was because of the great light quality and the close proximity to my home, it is super convenient. The paint I used is all from Ace Hardware and is the Clark+Kensington's line, Walls: Designer White 1066, Trim: Sheer Mist N-C9, Doors: Midnight Stroll in high gloss N-C16. Photographs are by Ann-Marie Rollo .  Here is a snap of Lindsey and I working hard to finish up a design project at my studio! We had the most amazing time in P-town. We ate, drank and were very merry!! While there, I was sure to pop into one of my favorite design shops - Shor. I am loving the hydrangea trees and think I may need t...

OLA!! (that is for Matty) He is enjoying the Olympics in Brazil for a week. Have a blast Mattykins! I know a lot of people have been down on Rio but I am sure there is a lot of good to be found there too!! Go USA! Okay, I'm not going to lie and won't bitch for long...but summer is a bit nutso. I'll just be perfectly honest: I love my kids more than life itself but balancing my business, my work with Ace and the blog along with their summer routine (or lack there of) I feel a little off balance..oh and my wine consumption seems to go up the crazier life gets. (just in the evenings though, so it's all good). My new assistant is kicking butt, so that has been a huge help! Thanks Lindsey!! Here is what got my attention this week!! 1. I have been taking some time to enjoy this beach this summer. A highlight is collecting pretty shells with my children! I try to enjoy the simple pleasures in life and this is one of them. 2. Nordstroms' HUGE sale end tomorrow so be sure to...

Miles on Fire Island......

Image
I'm a fan of Miles Redd's style. So it was fun to come across his Fire Island vacation home. This 3,000 sq. foot bungalow is perfectly placed between the bay and the beach. It's completely different than his maximalist style we so often see. His laid back abode is simple and has kept with a number of the original details such as the Malm fireplace and natural cedar walls. It looks to be the perfect escape from his hectic career and lifestyle in NYC.  “Even though I will always love beautiful things, I’ve relaxed my hold on them,” Redd says. “At this stage in my life I’m starting to love beautiful space even more.” - I couldn't agree more, with age seems to come this longing for more simplicity in life..... See more details and images of Mile's home here .

Love the look

I'm sneaking away this weekend for a P-town get away! Provincetown is at the very tip of the Cape. It's a laid back escape surrounded by beautiful beaches, fun shopping and delicious restaurants. Here's a little peek inside my weekend bag. I've packed mostly casual comfortable clothing..Cheers! Happy Weekend.... BAG // DRESS // STUDS // BLOCK // SHORTS // SANDALS // SUIT // SWEATSHIRT

Talking patios

Image
I was having a conversation the other day about patio materials. I myself need to add a patio onto the side of my house. I lean towards natural materials and love the idea of a clean fairly classic look. Here's a peek at some of my favorites and the transition pathways between!
