Summer blooms...

Image
via Amy Stone I finally got around to planting the pots in front of my home this weekend. I went with beautiful, lush, blue hydrangeas. The full green leaves and large blooms won me over. The best part? I'm going to transfer them to the garden out front at the end of the summer! Hydrangeas pack a punch and when large enough make for a great cutting flower to bring indoors. They are also fairly easy to maintain. I was tired of them at one point but my love for these classic beauties has returned. (plus they remind me of New England during the warm weather) and it doesn't get much better than that! Hope your week is off to a great start...Mondays aren't so bad during the summer months. via Domain

Friday already?? This week really did fly..I could use a few more hours to work! I'm feeling inspired lately, the change of seasons can do that. Here is what I'm eyeing! Hope your weekend is as fabulous as you! 1. Copper but copper and brass?? Even better. These lights are beautiful.. Now I need to find a place to use them..A powder room perhaps??? Or a three season porch?? Find them here .  I especially love that they are from a decommissioned boat!!! Design that tells a story is so interesting and usually spot on. (p.s. I am also warming up to shiny nickel again. There is something very clean about it) 2. Julia ? Gorgeous all the time. I am still on a huge stripe kick this summer. You should see the adorable shirt I picked up yesterday! It'll be perfection with white jeans. I posted it on insta. 3. This is in my cart ! I think I need the yellow or both!! 4. The Surf Lodge

I am sort of out of my mind that the summer is here!! (in a good way)....I came across the work of amazing hospitality designer, Robert McKinley   today, so I've decided to kick off this week and wind down the fabulous long weekend with a great quote and fantastic spot on my "must visit" list. It's of no surprise, I love the ocean and ALMOST anything that has to do with it so the thought of spending a few days at a hotel aptly name, The surf lodge works for me and my casual summer mindset...The lodge is located in Montauk, NY. This boutique hotel features a restaurant, small beach, wellness area and bar!  I usually like to start off the week with an inspiring quote in mind. The hotel designer's quote:  "In anything creative we always have to think like a child without boundaries". Cheers to the four day work week. xx

From time to time I share more personal details on my blog. If you're a regular reader then you've been privy to my skin cancer struggles. I visit my dermatologist every six months and too often they find either a basal cell or squamous skin cancer. Yesterday I had my fourth surgery to remove skin cancer in about six years. Basal cell carcinoma is not deadly (thank god) but it is damaging. It literally eats away at your skin and if not treated, can be disfiguring. I am on the mend today and am sharing the ways in which I am trying to repair my skin and prevent any further sun damage. The issues I am having today are from my exposure as a child/teenager. It's never too late to take care of your skin and protect it, not only from cancer but from pre-mature damage and wrinkles. Most sun cancer is caused by the sun's UV rays. Melanoma is very dangerous and can be deadly. I take my skincare and prevention pretty seriously now. I'd like to personally thank my doctor who p...
